| The reform of Trade Union Law of Vietnam |
The Trade Union Law of 1990 was passed and promulgated at the early stage of the transitional period to a market economy in Vietnam. After more than 20 years of coming into force, many provisions are no longer suitable to today's reality and need supplement, revision. |

At the 10th National Congress of Vietnamese Trade Unions that was held in Hanoi from 3 to 5 November 2008, a new Executive Committee was elected with 160 members headed by Mr. Dang Ngoc Tung who was reelected to be VGCL President for the 10th Tenure (2008 - 2013). Five Vice Presidents of the VGCL were reelected namely Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Thanh, Mr. Mai Duc Chinh, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngang and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Hong. The 16th World Trade Union Congress was sucessfully completed |
Vietnamese trade union delegation head by VGCL President Dang Ngoc Tung attended this event.The Congress began in a enthusiastic and militant atmosphere with the official Opening Ceremony and the participation of 828 representatives from 101 countries of the world in front of more than 4.000 Greek workers.
