On 10 April 2009, in Vientiane, the Ceremony of Handing over Trade Union Training Center built with the solidarity contribution of Vietnamese trade unions was solemnly organised by the Lao Federation of Trade Unions. Presented at the ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Duangchay Phichit, leaders of Ministries and Central Organs of Laos, authorities of Vientiane Capital city as well as representatives of the Vietnam Embassy to Laos.
On behalf of VGCL Presidium, VGCL President Dang Ngoc Tung handed over the "Trade Union Training Center" to the LFTU President Vongphet Xaykeuyachongtua. This is the solidarity contribution of Vietnamese trade unions with the total construction cost of more than 6.6 billion Lao kips (approximate 12.2 billion dongs). The Center is constituted of 4 floors with 8 classrooms, 15 dormitories, 2 meeting halls, canteen and other facilities. The construction was completed in 9 months and handed over within the defined period. It become a vivid token of traditional relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between VGCL and LFTU.
At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Duangchay Phichit awarded the Medal "Development" to the VGCL as a recognition of the great contribution and solidarity of the VGCL extended to the LFTU.
