As part of its friendship visit to Brazil from 4 to 9 May 2009, the VGCL delegation led by its President Dang Ngoc Tung had talks with CGTB President Antonio Neto, had working sessions with the leaders of the 3 largest national industrial federations of Brazil namely National Federation of Industrial Workers (CNTI) with 10 million union members, National Federation of Commercial Workers (CNTC) with 7 million union members, National Federation of Public Service Workers (CSPB) with more than 5 million union members.
At present, Brazil has 4 national trade union centers and 14 national industrial federations gathering more than 36 million members. As stipulated in the Article 589 of the Labour Act implemented since 1943, every year, the employer shall deduct one-day salary from yearly average salary of workers for trade union activities. All trade union organisations in Brazil expressed their wish to strengthen the relationship of friendship and cooperation with Vietnamese trade unions, especially in international activities in response to the on-going world financial crisis and economic downturn.
